To be in the business of sales you must have confidence, know your product or service really well, and be able to speak professionally about what you are selling. It has even been said that sales is both an art and a science. To become a salesperson, follow these steps to success. Step 1 Assess yourself. Find out if sales is something you really want to do. You may even want to take an aptitude test to determine your strongest skills in selling. Step 2 Finish high school. Have the basics under your belt. Some sales positions may even require some post secondary education, special training, or perhaps a license. Step 3 Get some experience. Volunteer work is a great way to learn if you like sales, and it looks great on a resume. Ask to shadow a salesperson to get a feel for the day-to-day responsibilities. Step 4 Believe in yourself.
