How do you become a rider at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna?
First of all, ignore the other answerer, because she has no idea what she’s talking about- not all of the riders at the Spanish Riding School are men, because dressage is a sport in which men and women participate equally. As to how you get hired and become a rider there, I believe that you actually must live in Austria and go to school there ( they have equestrian schools which offer degrees in Austria and most European countries, unlike in the US) and be an Austrian citizen or national. It also helps to have been or to be a dressage rider or competitor, preferably starting when one is very young. Most of the countries in Europe also offer pony classes in dressage at their shows, but that idea is only just beginning to catch on in the States.
