Railroading has been in existence since the early 1800’s and remains a thriving transportation industry. There are many types of railroads including passenger railroads (such as Amtrak) and freight service, which includes both short line railroads and bigger “class 1” railroads such as Union Pacific or Norfolk Southern. No matter the type of railroad, there are many different jobs associated with working on a railroad, including conductor, engineer, track crew, mechanics and management jobs.
