How Do You Become A Prosthetist?
A prosthetist is one who works to design and fit artificial limbs on people who have either lost limbs to disease or accidents or have been born without a limb. The work combines science and art, enabling people to live full lives. Step 1 Have a desire to help people if you want to become a prosthetist. You must be compassionate in order to serve people by helping them overcome serious challenges. Step 2 Go to a four year college. Take courses in the health sciences. You must have knowledge in anatomy, physiology and psychology. Learn to communicate well and work well with others. You must be able to work as a team with physiotherapists and occupational therapists if you want to become a prosthetist. Step 3 Get a job at a prosthetics company.
