How do you become a professional race car driver?

Start by going to a racing school. I always recommend Skip Barber. They have several courses to get you started. They also have their own racing series in which you can try your skills (and improve them) against people who have done the same courses. It is not cheap, of course, but if you have the money it is a good way to get started; and you could even spend less than starting with karting. From there, you can get a license, and you can start looking for drives in the series you want to drive in. Something to consider carefully is that MOST drivers don’t get paid to race initially, and MOST have to bring either sponsors or personal money to the team they will race with. This is a sport that costs a lot of money to get going in.

Okay take heed on this, I am telling you the best way to become a race car driver, plus find out if you have what it takes…. First off if you don’t have money, or access to money, you still can become a race car driver….You don’t need to go to a racing school, you can learn by watching, participating and helping other drivers….First off you go to the track, and volunteer yourself for what ever job a driver or owner needs….You start doing what ever it takes, learn about everything…..What loose and tight means, loose off tight in….Are the racing chatter you hear….Then as you learn as much as you can, you let them know you want to drive and learn….If they give you the chance, you listen to what they say, and drive the way they want you too….Then, if there is an opening, you will be given a chance to race…Show them you have what it takes, and before you know it, your racing…..Then you move up in classes and different cars….Then if your young enough and good enough,

Well, it is a sport reqireing a given amount of skill and talent, and like most things you start at the bottom. You work your way up by winning a lot (showing ability) and then you are doing what is known as ‘chasing points’. Each season, if you win a lot, you’ll accumulate (hopefully) enough points for prospective sponsers to notice you. When they do, if they want you to drive for them, they start footing the bill for either the cars costs, (if it’s yours) or you race their car. You are under contract to then do it their way.

What is your question?
