How Do You Become A Pilot In The Air Force?
Becoming an Air Force pilot is not a career for the faint of heart. Because of this, candidates are pared down to the best of the best and have to pass strict physical fitness, education and leadership requirements. Knowing the process to become a pilot may help you decide if the career is for you and how to prepare to give it your best shot. Get a degree (minimum of a Bachelor’s). Although not necessarily required, the military prefers the degree be scientific-based such as engineering, computer science or physics. Join the Air Force and receive a commission as an officer. You can become commissioned by enrolling in the ROTC (Reserve Officer’s Training Corp) while at college. If you have already completed a Bachelor’s degree and are no longer eligible for ROTC, you can attend Officer Training School. OTS is held at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, and is an intense 12 week course in leadership. Or you can apply to the Air Force Academy. Only 1,400 slots are available eve
