How Do You Become A More Competent Communicator?
Maybe you find yourself stuck in an awkward communication pause often, or feel as though you are not being understood in the way that you are meant to be. Both of these are a result of your communication skills. Here are a few simple steps to help you become a more competent communicator. Be an active perceiver. Listen when it’s your turn to listen, and you will be able to respond honestly from what the person has just said to you. Try to gather as much information as possible from the message and tone. Be ready to receive any messages and listen carefully. Distinguish fact from inferences. Know what information is factual and what information is what you want to believe. Speak with knowledge. Recognize not everybody is going to agree with you when you open your mouth. With different experiences and views, everyone’s view on topics can’t be the same . With each role we play, it makes us unique. Accept that another person’s view may be different, but that doesn’t mean that it is wrong.
