How Do You Become A Methodist Pastor?
To be ordained as UM clergy, a person must have a four year Bachelor’s degree, and a Masters of Divinity, both from approved institutions. An MDiv can take anywhere from 4 to 7 years, depending on the course load. So for a person without a college degree, you are looking at 9 to 12 years down the road. Even with a degree, you must have been a UM for at least a year, you are still looking at 5 to 8 years of preparation. Visit UMC.org for more info
