The United Daughters of the Confederacy is an organization that seeks to preserve the true and accurate story of the soldiers who served in the war against the states. The members also seek to aid those who are descendants of those soldiers in the pursuit of their goals. Becoming a member is a memorable and sacred event for all involved. Here are the steps to achieve the coveted membership. Establish that you are over 16 years of age. A birth certificate will satisfy this requirement. Establish that you are a blood relative of a person who served honorably in the Army, Navy or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America. This is done through research at UDC Business Office, the state departments of archives and history, or the General Services Administration, National Archives and Records Service in Washington D.C. Ask about the cost of research at each locations in Step 2 before going ahead with it. There are prospective member rates for those who have been invited to join yet
