How Do You Become A Good Stand-Up Comedian?
All over the internet I see people giving advice on how to write jokes for stand-up comedy. Much of this advice, however, I’ve learned from personal experience, is horrible and will mislead so many new and inexperienced amateur comedians. Following is a list of the ways I’ve come up with writing decent material to use on stage. Step 1 Always have some way of writing down ideas wherever you go. This is probably the best and most common advice I hear and probably one of the only ones that I can consistently get behind. When most people come up with a funny premise and don’t write it down, they assume that when they get home that they’ll remember it. You won’t. Trust me. Many comedians suggest carrying around a pen and a pad of paper at all times to write down any ideas for a joke you may come up with. This method is completely valid, but personally, I just have a notepad function in my cell phone that I use to record any ideas. I know others who use voice recorders. Just use whatever can
