How Do You Become A Flight Paramedic?
Flight paramedics fly aboard helicopters and other special flights as part of a medical team. Their job is to help stabilize patients in critical emergency situations who are being flown to hospitals or other health care facilities for treatment. Obtain CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification. Sign up for an EMT course. Get at least a year of experience as an EMT to become accustomed to working under intense circumstances, know how to respond effectively and learn how to deal with patients under your care. Earn an associate’s degree in paramedic studies. Become a Nationally Registered Paramedic by passing the certification exam and obtaining the appropriate credentials. Get at least five years of critical care experience. Apply for open positions as part of a flight crew.
