How Do You Become A Certified Nutritionist?
According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for certified nutritionists is expected to remain steady through 2016. These professionals work in hospitals and medical practices to design food plans for patients with special dietary needs. They also work to prevent illness through dietary changes in a patient’s diet. To become a certified nutritionist, you must complete a bachelor’s degree and seek licensure with your state. Step 1 Earn a degree in nutrition from a college approved by the American Dietetic Association’s Commission (see Resources). There are two options for becoming a certified nutritionist: bachelor’s degree or master’s degree. Although most states require a bachelor’s degree for certification, if you decide to get a master’s degree, you’ll qualify to hold management positions. Step 2 Contact your state for licensing requirements. Most states offer certification programs for nutritionists. Typically this includes completing an accredited nutritionist program
