According to the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), up to 85 percent of accountants of are responsible for decision making, planning and control functions in their organizations. The IMA offers the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential to prove you have attained the skills, experience and credibility to stand out in the management accounting field. If you want to provide proof of your knowledge and experience to employers, this certification may be for you. Step 1 Complete one of the following educational requirements: a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, rank in the top 50 percent of either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), or hold a Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent) professional certification. Your educational requirement must be completed either before taking your CMA examination or within seven
