Becoming a certified bookkeeper can make you more marketable in the job market and help you earn a higher wage. Follow these steps to get affordable bookkeeping training and become a certified bookkeeper. Step 1 Go the AIPB.com, which is the website for the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. Step 2 Click on ‘Certification’ on the left side of the page. Step 3 You can order a free, 23-page booklet that explains the AIPB certification process. Step 4 In order to become a certified bookkeeper you will need two years or more of full-time bookkeeping experience, or the part-time or freelance equivalent. You will also need to pass a four part exam. Step 5 AIPB offers, but does not require, workbooks that will help prepare you for the four parts of the test.
