How Do You Beach Start A Kneeboard?
The easiest way to start out riding a kneeboard is to start from the beach. Find a smooth section of sand without rocks or other obstructions, and back the boat up close enough for the rope to reach the shore. Position the kneeboard close to the water’s edge. The exact distance is actually a matter of terrain and preference. Only a foot or two of sand is necessary, but with a sloped, smooth starting area, as much as 10 or 15 feet can be used. Kneel on your board in proper riding position, and strap your knees firmly into the kneestrap. Grip the rope in either the overhand grip or the baseball-bat grip. Give the driver the signal to “hit it.” Lean back to resist being pulled forward, and keep your arms straight out in front of you. Pull your knees toward your chest as the board enters the water to keep the nose of your board from submerging. Keep leaning back.
