• An indie girl should be known for her eccentric music tastes. It’s OK to like new, pop songs, but liking these things wont help you become ‘indie’. Try some different bands like Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, Rogue Wave, Page France, The Shins. Pretty much any folk or acoustic songs by relatively unknown bands can be considered indie. • Being indie is cheap! Go to thrift and second-hand stores and find patterned, textured and unique shirts, t-shirts and dresses. You can buy a clothing item for as little as $2 at a thrift store. Urban Outfitters, while expensive, also sell amazing indie dresses. • You don’t need skinny jeans to be indie. Any kind of jeans will do, but extra points if they are long and frayed or if you do something cool to them, like dye them or sew patches onto them. • Invest in gold bangles, earrings, rings and maybe a few anklets. • Try and find a unique or artistic hobby.
