How Do You Be A Respectful Tourist In New York?
While tourists may have good reason to dub New York “the rudest city in the world,” often it has more to do with their own behavior than that of the natives around them. If you’re planning a trip to New York in the near future, heed this advance to ensure a pleasurable vacation and an invitation back to the Big Apple. Don’t stand. Period. Not in the middle of the street. Not in front of the turnstile in the subway. Not in a crowd outside Time Square. Consider that while you may be on vacation, the rest of us have places to be and do not like having to navigate around you as you take pictures of our buildings. If you need to use the bathroom, go to a Starbucks or a McDonald’s or find a restaurant and buy a drink or a cup of coffee. Don’t ask people around you.
