This is a great recipe handed down through our family and is perfect if you: 1) Have little time/energy for things you could buy at Trader Joe’s that taste equally good; 2) Wish to teach a child the rudiments of baking or have a young adult, who might like to make a special treat for the family (feel free to utilize childhood labor pain stories if they are on the fence-they will love the kneading part and have a blast when doing) 3) Have a rainy Saturday morning and this is actually a fun one to do, especially with some good Norah Jones playing in the background, or if she doesn’t cut it, try Grace Jones and imagine her in front of the mixing bowl-you are so Betty Crocker compared to that! Mix everything together with your hands in the bowl-if you have a child helping, this is where their eyes glaze over in glee. It should be mixed this way until it has a paste consistency.
