How Do You Bake A Twisted Steak & Guinness Pie?
I love Steak and Guinness Pie. I’ve made several versions over the years, many from the London Times’ online recipes. I’ve also tried several blog recipes. Ireland’s web site has a recipe. All have been tasty in different ways. So, I believe I have a ‘feel’ for this lovely, comforting treat. I’ve also tried many versions of the crust: short crusts, pie crusts and even puff pastry with tasty results but recently I just didn’t feel like a pastry crust. I decided to try a mashed potato crust, like a Shepherd’s Pie. I realized it was a twisted idea -hence, the name! To a baking dish add the can of Guinness, all but one sip, right? Add the brown sugar and raisins. Add anywhere from 1 Tablespoon of each to a 1/4 cup -it’s really a matter of personal taste. Fry up your bacon, add a little olive oil. Toss the steak in seasoned flour and add to the bacon. Cook until meat is browned. Scrape bottom of pan with spatula and add meat and scrapings to baking dish with Guinness. Boil the coarsely cube
