If you have ever wanted to move an OLAP cube from one server to another, or if you would just like to know what you data is backed up then follow this simple how to about backing up and restoring an OLAP cube from Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Open Analysis Services from Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Right click the database that you would like to backup and select ‘backup’. A window will pop up where you will need to specify the name of the backup file, the location of the backup, and also a password if you want to protect it. Once you are done filling out all of that info just press okay. Depending on how big your database is it could take awhile for it to backup. To restore a backed up OLAP Cube all you have to do is right click on the databases folder and select restore. Then browse to the location of your backed up OLAP Cube. Enjoy!
