How Do You Backflush The Swimming Pool Sand Filters?

0

Sand filters keep pool water sparkling clean by removing organic and inorganic debris. These unwanted particles build up in the body of the sand over time and need removal through the process known as backflushing. Simply put, a reverse flow of water inside of the canister holding the sand dislodges the contaminants and eliminates them from the system. Turn on the pump when the sand is new and observe the pressure gauge reading on top of the filter. The gauge measures the force of the water flowing through the body of sand inside of the sand canister and displays in a ponds.per square inch (PSI) format. Write down the PSI number and treat that as your benchmark number. Over time, the pressure will increase inside of the canister, making it harder for the water to flow through the sand as the filter traps more debris. When the reading gets between 6 to 8 PSI higher than the benchmark, it is time to backflush the sand. Turn off the pump and locate the waste port on top of the filter cani
