How Do You Avoid Traffic At The George Washington Bridge In New York?
I live in New Jersey and often have to drive to New York via the George Washington Bridge. The good old GWB! I have probably spent countless hours sitting in traffic, wasting my time trying to get across the Hudson River. Through my years of travel, here are some of the tips I follow. I do not travel to New York City from the GWB, but to Yonkers. If you have to go to NYC, take the train, do not drive! Know the area. It’s best to have a detailed map of the area in your vehicle. This will show you all the alternatives. It also makes great reading when you are stuck in traffic. Know the locals. Do you know anyone that lives near or around the GWB? If so, talk to them and get their secrets. Do not try to get over the bridge during rush hour. My rule is if I’m not over the bridge by 4 PM from New Jersey to New York, I’m too late and it’s not worth going. Take the Upper Level inbound to New York, there is less traffic under the apartments.
