Avoiding a Nigerian scam email is quite easy once you are familiar with the signs. Nigerian scam emails have been around for some time but are still one of the most common types of fraud. Ignore any random email from people in Africa that you do not know. These will often mention job opportunities to deposit funds of check into your bank account as a job. Other common tactics involve claiming to be a doctor or other person of respectable title, mentions of millions of dollars in “delayed funds” with requests for information, and banks you have not done any business with. These are tell tale signs of the Nigerian email scam. Make note of any suspicious email’s sender email address.
