How Do You Avoid Rudeness While Bowling?
Whether you’re bowling in a league or simply having fun on a Saturday night with friends, nothing kills the good times faster than another player’s rudeness. Avoid problems on the lane with strategies to deal with bowlers who ignore the proper etiquette. Step back if the other bowler steps onto his lane, even if it’s your turn and you’re preparing your shot. Although it’s inconvenient, you’ll be able to concentrate on your approach better without someone standing directly beside you. Clear your throat or offer a polite “excuse me” if the bowler is dawdling or celebrating in his lane after his shot. Remind bowlers of what is your personal equipment if they continue to use your ball, towel or other items. Reach for your ball as soon as it comes out of the return, if necessary. Tune out hecklers, loud talkers and overly enthusiastic celebrations. Tell people who pester you between shots that you’ll talk to them after the frame.
