How Do You Avoid Parvo, Before Shot Time?
We breed for a living, and also live in an area where Parvo is a problem. We make sure our dog lot is secure against other animals crossing through it, and no people walk there either. Don’t let your mommies run loose outside, that’s a good way to track in bacteria from other areas. Make sure you take off your shoes as soon as you come inside as it can be carried on the bottom of your shoes. And be absolutely sure you wash and sanitize your hands before you touch the babies! We take these same precautions and haven’t lost a pup yet. They all have their first shots (doesn’t protect totally, but it’s better than nothing) before they meet their new mommies and daddies, so it’s less of a danger being handled by strangers.
