With summer time, comes summer storms and lightning. It’s not a secret that July and August are the most frequent months that lightning strikes. Although, only around 100 people a year actually get struck by lightning, it’s still important to take caution when lightning approaches your hometown. Once you hear thunder, it is time to find shelter to avoid the danger of lightning storms. Lightning is not far behind. It is just not in your sight yet. Don’t run under a tree or even under an overhanging rock. These are not safe places to hide from lightning. Lightning will strike the tallest points. Stay away from anything metal. Do not stay in the open, this will make you a target for lightning. If you’re outdoors in the water and it gets stormy, to avoid lightning, it’s time to get out. It’s never safe to stay in water.
