How Do You Audition For A Summer Ballet School?
Some of the most prestigious ballet companies and schools hold summer ballet school, or intensives, each year to train upcoming aspiring ballerinas and sometimes identify apprentices and company members. These intensives are very competitive and require acceptance after an audition. The auditions are usually held late winter/early spring at ballet schools across the world. Look for upcoming auditions for ballet intensives in ballet and dance magazines as well as online in dance directories and forums. Go through the lists and note the schools you are interested in. Find the closest audition location and keep track of the dates so you can attend more than one for several different schools to increase your chances of being accepted to one. Dress in pink tights, a black leotard and pink ballet slippers for the audition.
