How Do You Attach Lace And Ribbon To Sleeve Edges Of Doll Clothes?
If you’re a sewing enthusiast, you can learn to attach lace and ribbon to sleeve edges of doll clothes. Here’s how. Choose the lace and ribbon that you would like to attach to the sleeves. If the fabric has a floral print, choose ribbons of complementary colors. Do the same with the lace. You can find these items at Jo-Ann Fabrics or Wal-Mart (see Resources). Measure the sleeve circumference before sewing the underarm seam. Next, measure the lace and ribbon; it should be the same length as the sleeve. Fold in about 1/4 inch of the lower edge of the sleeve. Press it so that it’s easier to sew the lace. Gather the sleeve right at the top edge of the lace to fit the doll’s arm. Use pins to hold the gathers in place. Proceed to sew the ribbon over the lace. Sew over the lace seam in a straight line. Turn the sleeve inside out and sew the underarm seam all the way down to the bottom of the lace. Repeat the same process with the other sleeve.
