Installing a new vanity in your bathroom is a simple weekend project that can dramatically change the style, look and feel of the room. The vanity is one of the most used areas in the room. Replacing a worn vanity and faucet makes a large impact for a small price. Remove the old vanity and sink by turning off the water supply and disconnecting supply lines from sink. Place a bucket under pipes for any overflow or dripping. Use a utility knife to score around the edges of the vanity top that may have previously been caulked. Take out any screws attaching the vanity top to the base cabinet or wall studs. Place the pry bar under the edge of the vanity top and use leverage to remove it. Repair any wall damage that may have occurred. Apply joint compound with a trowel on the damaged areas and smooth. Repeat if needed. Let dry, then sand smooth.
