The VGA port is typically located in the back of the laptop. Secure the port with the attached rods. If the VGA cable is not attached to the monitor, you should be able to connect the other end of the cable to the VGA port on the monitor in the same manner. Use the display changing function on the VAIO to change the laptop to display from the monitor. This is typically accomplished by holding down the function key and the F-key to change displays (typically has a monitor icon on it.)
