To assess yourself prior to beginning a weight loss program, it is important to determine your current state of health. If you have a medical problem such as heart disease, asthma or diabetes, it is important to conduct your weight loss plan under the supervision of a medical professional. The first thing you want to do is to determine how much weight you want to lose. Determine if that is a realistic amount of weight based on the time you have to put into your weight loss plan and if it is a sustainable goal for your health. Remember that changes start slowly and you also want to make sure that it is a healthy goal for yourself. Start by increasing your exercise by 5 to 10 minutes per session per week.
