How do you assess Weekly Geos (Weekly Geography sheets)?

0

Every Friday, the students and I devote a good chunk of classtime to Weekly Geos. First, I collect that week’s Weekly Geo. Later in class, we discuss the Weekly Geo, question by question. Second, the students spend 15-20 minutes working on the new Weekly Geo (after we discuss it, question by question). The new Weekly Geo is due, in pen, one week later (the following Friday). Weekly Geos are entered into the gradebook twice: the first time is a homework grade (was it handed in on Friday? was it completed in pen? was every question answered?) and the second time is a Weekly Geo score (was every question answered correctly, with correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation?). Late Weekly Geos are accepted on Mondays, but the highest homework grade a late Weekly Geo can earn is a 50 (note: a Weekly Geo is not considered late if the student is absent on the Friday the Weekly Geo is due). I don’t accept late Weekly Geos after Monday.
