How Do You Apply Grout To A Marble Floor?

Grouting a newly laid marble floor is similar to any other grouting project, with a few differences. Unlike ceramic, marble is natural stone and is cut into straight, square tiles (ceramic tile is usually mounded, with slightly rounded corners). Marble tiles are supposed to be set very close together (1/16-inch grout lines, instead of the usual 1/8 to 1/4) to give the appearance of a flat, solid marble slab. Using special grout that doesn’t contain sand accommodates the thin lines. Put 1 to 2 inches of cool water in the bottom of your bucket. Add unsanded powdered grout until it covers the water. Stir with your putty knife. Continue adding water and powder, stirring it, until it reaches the consistency of thick mud. Let the grout sit in the bucket; this process, called “slaking,” allows the components in the grout to meld. Wipe down the floor with a damp sponge. Re-stir the grout. Use your grout float to scoop up the grout and deposit it onto the floor. Drag the grout across the tile
