How Do You Apply Chalkboard Paint To Walls?

Chalkboard Paint is really cool and loads of fun for kids. It works well in playrooms and can also add a fun aspect to a single wall in bedrooms. The only catch is that the walls must be prepared properly and the actual chalkboard paint applied evenly for the best results. The wall(s) need to be free of cracks and holes before you can effectively apply the chalkboard paint. Refer to my articles on sheetrock and plaster repairs for step-by-step guidance for these processes. If the walls are in good shape, proceed to Step 2. Once the walls are repaired, thoroughly sand the entire surface with the medium grit sandpaper. This is really important because chalkboards are smooth! Picture the chalk “catching” and “bouncing” off little bumps…not so good! After completely sanded, wipe down with damp sponge. Use the masking tape to protect baseboards, crown moldings, etc. Use the brush and the 1/4″ nap (thickness) roller to apply the prime coat. Don’t put this on too heavily…really work it in
