How Do You Apply A House Wrap?
Siding alone cannot protect a house against rain, wind and other natural elements. To prevent leaking and protect your home, you must install house wrap before siding the house. House wrap consists of fiberglass, laminated films and other impermeable sheets of material that, when installed correctly, can serve as an air barrier as well as a water barrier. Start with a bare exterior wall, without any siding on it. Clean the wall with a broom or air compressor to remove any dirt. This will help the wrap work most effectively. Wrap the entire house with house wrap. Start at the bottom, rolling the wrap horizontally across the house, and work your way up. Use a staple gun to adhere the wrap to the house, spacing the staples every 12 inches. Make sure there is a staple on the edge of each line and that the wrap is taut. Cut away openings by feeling where they begin and cutting a rectangular shape with a sharp knife that is 3 inches smaller than both the length and width of the opening. Stap
