How do you align the timing marks on a 1.8 Mitsubishi Eclipse engine?
on the cam there is a little dot that is machined in the cam gear. make sure that it is at top dead center( remember that the motor sits at a slight angle so it wont look like the very top by looking strait at it. you will have to take the crank pully off to see the mark on the crank gear. the mark is an indentation on the back of the pully. line that up with the little arrow next to the gear. after that is set put the belt on making sure that you dont move the gears. put your pully back on and use a timing light to set the timing at two degrees top side by looking at the marks on the timming belt cover next to the crank pully.
