Once garage door sensors are out of alignment the door will open but won’t close. The invisible beam transmitted offers few clues when misalignment is major. Identify transmitter unit — this will have LED that is always on … assuming no wiring fault. You will find the transmitter and receiver sensor pair at each end of the garage door track approximately six inches from the floor. Hold laser pointer flat against body of transmitter, pointed in direction of receiving unit. Don’t worry about ‘elevation’ alignment. Activate pointer to verify ‘azimuth’ alignment. Is the laser spot (you can move spot up or down) landing at same left/right point at receiving sensor? If not adjust wing-nut to correct this alignment.
