How Do You Aim Projector Headlights On A Truck?

0

Aiming your headlights is an important part of any maintenance routine. Headlight bulbs burn out and need to be replaced, and when they do you also need to reset your projection pattern. In particular, headlights on trucks must be adjusted to ensure they are not blinding drivers coming at you, that the lights are on the road and that they aim low enough that you are not blinding the driver in front of you. Some headlights require a special tool to adjust and others use a small “star bit.” Park your truck so that it is about 30 feet from a solid wall such as the garage door or side of a house. Turn the headlights on and look at the pattern. Locate the adjuster bolts that are on the headlights. Locations for these vary depending on the make and model of the truck. Some trucks will have to lift the hood and look on the headlight housing and others need to look on the outside of the vehicle where the headlight housing meets the bumper. Insert a 4mm star-head fitting into the adjuster bolts
