If you have obstructive sleep apnea, you spend much of your sleeping time snoring, going through periods of apnea (no breathing), gasping and starting your breathing pattern again. A bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machine (like the BiPAP Pro model manufactured by Respironics) includes a unit that compresses air, a tightly fitting nasal or face mask, and tubing to connect the mask and unit. It delivers a stream of air compressed to a higher pressure when you inhale and a lower pressure when you exhale.
