How Do You Adjust Pressure On A Respironics Bipap?
If you have obstructive sleep apnea, you spend your sleeping hours snoring, going through periods of apnea (not breathing) and gasping. A bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machine, such as the BiPAP Auto SV model manufactured by Respironics, consists of a small unit that compresses air, a tightly fitting nasal or face mask, and tubing to connect the mask and unit. It delivers a stream of air compressed to a higher pressure when you inhale and a lower pressure when you exhale. This combination keeps your airway open so you don’t stop breathing, and promotes a fairly natural sleep pattern. Locate the standby and monitoring screens. You can adjust several machine settings from either of these two screens. Plug the BiPAP in and watch the display on the top of the unit until you see the standby screen, which will read “888.8.” If you press “Pressure On/Off” to the left of the display panel, you’ll be on the monitoring screen, which will have a second row of 8s below the “888.8” read
