Adjustable suspension has been around since the 1930s, back when heavy-duty trucks were using air springs to help carry their loads. Over the years, one option that has stayed constant are coil over shocks. These are adjustable height shocks, that let you lift or lower the ride height of the vehicle for performance tuning, or just for show, by using some basic tools. Lift up the vehicle using the jack and place it on jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is secure before you crawl underneath it. Reach around the tire and access the coil over shock. There is a threaded body on the shock, and at the bottom of the coil there is a adjustable base. On the side of that base, there is a hole for an Allen key. The Allen key is used to lock the bottom mount in place so it doesn’t adjust. Place the right sized Allen key from the Allen key set into the hole for the Allen key on the adjustable base.
