How Do You Adjust A Fender Floyd Rose Tremolo?
The Floyd Rose Tremolo is affected by two opposite forces: string tension and spring tension. The strings create a force that will pull up on the floating bridge, while the bridge’s springs compensate for this force to bring the bridge flush. Changing your string gauge will alter the string tension, and therefore lead to a need to adjust the bridge springs of your Fender’s tremolo system. If possible, replace your strings with the same gauge every time to avoid adjustments, but if you want to try out a different gauge you will inevitably be faced with adjusting the spring tension. Loosen and remove the screws and clamps at the locking nut. Detune the strings slowly with the machine heads, loosen the string lock screws at the bridge, and remove the old strings.
