How Do You Add The Sound Icon To The Taskbar In Vista?
Windows Vista introduced new features in the taskbar that can seem confusing. One of the features is to hide unused icons in the system tray. You can customize this area so that it always hides certain icons or always shows them. Click the small “<" icon near the system tray to show hidden icons. If the sound icon doesn't appear, right-click the taskbar and select "Properties". Select the "Notification Area" tab, then put a check mark into the box next to "Volume" and click the "OK" button.
