How Do You Add The Ride Cymbal Pattern While Playing Hi Hat In Jazz Drum?
“Today we are going to be learning how to play a basic jazz drumbeat. So now that we have the basic ride pattern down, although we’re playing it straight, we’re going to go ahead and add in the high hat with our foot on two and four and this is just to get used to, once again, naturally playing rock music or regular drumming or whatever. We’re used to just playing quarter notes or eighth notes with the right hand and we’re not using our left foot at all to keep the feel or the beat going. So, it’s kind of imperative to take these small steps to where we can actually get to the point to where we’re playing it correctly in the end.
