How Do You Add A PCV Grommet?
The PCV grommet is a rubber seal that the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve is seated inside of. The grommet is mounted into one of the valve covers on the engine. The PCV valve is responsible for venting the crankcase vapors and unburned gasses back into the combustion chamber. The grommet that the PCV valve is seated in is responsible for providing an airtight seal around the PCV valve. Excessive heat over time can cause the PCV valve to harden and become brittle. Park the vehicle, and shut the engine off. Open the hood, and allow the engine to completely cool down for an hour or two. Prop the hood up with the hood rod attachment. Locate the PCV valve that is inside one of the two valve covers. The valve covers are located on each side of the engine. The PCV valve will be seated inside of a rubber grommet and will have a hose attached to one end. Pull the PCV valve out of the grommet with your hand. If the grommet is stuck or it is brittle, use the needle-nose pliers to care
