Outlook Express is the free email client provided by Microsoft and distributed with the Windows XP operating system. While it’s fairly easy to set up, it can be intimidating upon first launch if you are not sure what you are doing. Knowing where to look is half the battle in accessing Outlook Express settings. Obtain the necessary information from your email service provider to set up your email through a third-party client. You need to know the type of mail server (POP3, IMAP, Exchange), the designation for the incoming and outgoing mail servers and your username and password. Open Outlook Express. Select “Tools” > “Accounts.” Select the “Mail” tab. Select “Add” > “Mail.” Select the type of mail server from the drop-down menu.
