How Do You Access Clingmans Dome?
Straddling the North Carolina and Tennessee border, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in Tennessee. For those day trekking on the Appalachian Trail, the dome’s lookout tower with its familiar spiral walkway offers a great place to recuperate and experience a spectacular view of the neighboring domes. Note that domes, knobs, and bald are terms to describe distinct mountain tops throughout the Appalachian range. Clingmans Dome is accessible by an automobile parking lot that is within minutes from the lookout tower.
