Marble, a beautiful application for floors, should be sealed, due to its porosity. An unsealed marble floor is a canvas for undesired staining and etching. If you have recently acquired a new marble floor in your home, yet it is not sealed, you may wonder how to clean it so it will be ready for sealer application. Dust mop the floor with an oil-free dust mop to remove any dust or debris from the floor. Sweep the residue into a dust pan and discard. Move the dust mop in one direction only, do not slide it back and forth across the floor, to avoid scratches on the floor from the dirt and debris. Fill a clean mop bucket with clean, warm water, add the manufacturer’s recommended amount of a neutral-pH cleanser or one tablespoon of mild liquid soap to the water, and agitate the water with a stir stick or a gloved hand. Mop the floor with a clean, non-abrasive mop, using the cleanser and water solution. Then, mop again with a clean mop and plain water. Dry your floor with clean, soft cloths
