How do WinRPI modems compare in performance to hardware ECC modems?
WinRPI modems have the same data throughput performance as hardware ECC modems. Tests run on a 386DX-33 showed no appreciable throughput difference between a Rockwell hardware ECC modem and a Rockwell RPI modem. If you are transferring highly compressible data, and you want optimum performance, then a 486 class processor is recommended.
