How Do Weighing Scales Work?
Weighing scales are mechanical equipments that are used in almost every field of life. Be it a grocery store or an engineering lab, it serves an important purpose at all the places. Mainly these equipments are categorized into three different categories namely Spring Scales, Strain Gauge Scales and Hydraulic Scales. A spring scale has a strong and stretching spring attached to its one end. The other end consists of marked numbers, which represent mass of the body attached to the spring. Whenever a body mass is attached to the spring, a tension is produced in the string, which pulls it to a certain amount, resulting in the reading in the fixed gauge of the weighing balance. These types of springs are obsolete now and they could only measure small weights and masses. Strain Gauge scales measure the strain produced by a weight mass and they are electronically operated. The strain produced is measured by electronic sensors, which give the weight reading against certain standard values of s
